A
lot of athletes talk about the importance of getting off on the
right foot, but Chivas USA midfielder Paulo Nagamura makes sure that
everything gets on his right foot first.

Nagamura
is very superstitious, so he always puts on his right sock and shoe
first, and takes his initial step onto the field with his right foot.

“It
brings me luck,” Nagamura said.

Besides the special order in which he dresses, the most important thing to Nagamura is to be well
rested before the match. Below is Nagamura’s game day schedule:

9 or 9:30- Wake up

9:30 to 11:00- Eat breakfast, watch
television (usually other soccer games), play video games, Skype with
wife and daughter back in Brazil

11:00 to 1:00- Nap

1:00 to 1:30- Lunch (Usually chicken
and pasta)

1:30 to game time- Relax, get mentally
ready for the game, and listen to Brazilian music

Nagamura will be following this routine tomorrow to prepare for Chivas USA taking on New England at The Home Depot Center. For more information on the match or to purchase tickets so that you are there for the crucial first step onto the field, click here.
