Chivas USA midfielder Sal Zizzo throws out first pitch before San Diego Padres Game on September 7

San Diego native "lives his dream"

Chivas USA midfielder and San Diego native Sal Zizzo threw out the first pitch at the San Diego Padres game against the Los Angeles Dodgers tonight at PETCO Park in San Diego. Zizzo, an All-CIF centerfielder at Patrick Henry High School in San Diego before choosing soccer in college, along with Jonathan Bornstein took part in the pregame festivities as both Chivas USA and the Padres prepare for next week’s ChivaClásico on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8:00 p.m. at PETCO Park.

Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara will square off in the second ChivaClásico, taking place on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 8:00 p.m. at PETCO Park. The match will include some of Mexican soccer’s biggest stars in Guadalajara’s Alberto Medina, Omar Bravo, ‘Bofo’ Bautista, and more, as well as Chivas USA’s Jonathan Bornstein, Zach Thornton, Jesús Padilla, and others. The two teams have met once before, with Guadalajara taking a 2-0 win in last year’s ChivaClásico at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. The match is being presented in partnership with the San Diego Padres of Major League Baseball, and tickets are available at both cdchivasusa.com/chivaclasico and padres.com.
