Chivas USA
and Chivas de Guadalajara will square off next Tuesday, September 14 at 8:00
p.m. PT at PETCO Park in San Diego, with the winner earning the new
ChivaClásico Trophy. As the teams will be playing for a cup for the first time,
penalty kicks will be used to decide the winner if the match ends in a draw.

Chivas de Guadalajara won the
first edition of the ChivaClásico, which was held on September 23, 2009 at the
Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena, topping Chivas USA by a 2-0 score, with both
goals coming from forward Omar Arellano. This year’s match will be played
in San Diego, the first time Chivas USA has played in the city since its
first-ever game, a preseason exhibition in 2005 against Mexican First Division
club Atlante.

The second
‘ChivaClásico’ will kick off at 8:00 p.m. PT at PETCO Park in San
Diego, and will be held in partnership with Major League Baseball’s San
Diego Padres. Tickets for the match are available at $20 for General Admission, $30 for Endzone, $40 for
Sidelines and $45 for Midfield, and can be found online at padres.com/chivas, at the PETCO Park Box office, by phone at (619)
