Practice Report: August 13
Chivas USA held practice this morning ahead of this Saturday’s match against Seattle Sounders FC at The Home Depot Center at 8:00 p.m. PT.
The team practiced without Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy, who will undergo surgery today for a torn tendon on his bicep. Goalkeeper Zach Thornton will likely replace Kennedy in tomorrow’s match, in his return to MLS action after suffering a knee injury in this season’s match against Kansas City Wizards on July 10.
“He has experience, he’s solid, and when he went down, he was on top of his game and I think he’s going to help us tomorrow,” said Chivas USA Head Coach Martin Vasquez on Thornton’s return.
Chivas USA hosted a group of fans in today’s practice: The team congratulated Chivas supporter Daniel Amaya on his 18th birthday, Hugo Chacon won a meet-and-greet with Jonathan Bornstein (fans get a chance to win prizes and meet their favorite players by texting CHIVAS to 59925 during match broadcasts) and the boys and girls of the YMCA of Torrance soccer team met the team and got some autographs.
