Practice Report: August 12
Chivas USA practiced today with some absences such as
Venezuelan striker Giancarlo Maldonado, who played 69 minutes in the 3-1 loss
to Panama on Wednesday night in Caracas, Venezuela.
Defender Michael Umaña is traveling back from Asuncion, Paraguay, where Costa Rica fell
2-0 against Paraguay also on Wednesday night.
US National Team defender
Jonathan Bornstein had a very light session after participating with the
National Team on Tuesday against Brazil in New Jersey.
Chivas USA head coach Martin Vasquez discussed the absences with members of the media after training, saying, “We have prepared
the game with the guys that stayed behind.
"Giancarlo, Michael and Jonny are
very important [to this team], but you never know what can happen in those
games, injuries, long flights. We’ll see how they feel. Johnny is
healthy, we’ll see about Giancarlo and Michael. We need the best eleven
healthy, rested and sharp for this game against Seattle.”
Keeper Dan Kennedy was not present at practice as he is undergoing surgery tomorrow for a torn tendon on his bicep. Fans are leaving well wishes on the Official Chivas USA Facebook page for Kennedy's speedy recovery.
