On August 10, 2010, Ruben Galvan, a former player at the Chivas USA Bell Gardens Academy, was the victim of a shooting in Lynwood, Calif. Chivas USA would like to extend their deepest condolences to the Galvan family for their loss.

An incoming tenth grader at Lynwood High School, Galvan hoped to one day become a Police Officer.

The 16-year old played as a forward for the Academy and participated as a ball kid at the Chivas USA SuperLiga match against Pachuca on July 21.

“Ruben was an amazing kid with a bright future,” said his coach, Hector Franco. “He was a passionate individual on and off the soccer field, and he is greatly missed by his family, teammates, and friends. On behalf of the Galvan family, I’d like to thank everyone for their support.”
