Jazic Knows How to Manage De Rosario
Few players have found a way to successfully defend Toronto FC attacking midfielder Dwayne De Rosario. Last season, he had 11 goals and six assists. This season, he already has eight goals and three assists, in addition to a goal against Manchester United in the 2010 MLS All-Star Game. He was the MLS All-Star Game MVP in 2006, the MLS Cup MVP twice, and the Canadian Player of the Year three times.
Chivas USA defender Ante Jazic has guarded Dwayne De Rosario numerous times in practices with the Canadian National Team.
“Dwayne is a very good player, one of the top in the MLS over the last several years,” Jazic said. “He is very talented individually, and works extremely hard for his team. He is one of the premier players in this league, and definitely a player we need to control on Saturday.”
Controlling De Rosario will not be a simple task for the Red-And-White because he is very experienced and talented.
“[De Rosario] is very unpredictable,” Jazic said. “He has the ability to go both ways and he can shoot with both feet, so he is a handful. He is a guy who is very dynamic, and tough to keep at bay.”
Jazic planned to talk to his teammates about De Rosario.
“We need to keep an eye out for Dwayne because he is always making late runs, and he always finds a way to get open for scoring opportunities,” Jazic said.
While Jazic was not excited about having to face De Rosario again, he was happy to have the opportunity to return to his home country.
“I have family coming in for the game that I do not see very often, so it is going to be nice to see them,” Jazic said. “It is always fun to be on Canadian soil.”
