Chivas USA Soccer Academies pride themselves in nurturing young talent and every year hold tryouts to find the best players in Southern California. At the Chivas USA Futbol Academy at Bell Gardens, one player is on the fast track to success. Justin I., an 11-year old from Hawthorne, scored 64 goals in 25 matches this past season, the most goals scored by any player in the league. He has been playing for the team the past five and a half years and even though he usually plays forward and midfield he has experience as a defender and goalkeeper as well.

Justin practices twice a week with his team and although it is sometimes hard to get up early in the morning for practices, his commitment to soccer motivates him to work hard everyday. He has a strong family support system and his father, who grew up playing soccer in Mexico, drives him the hour each way to practice every week.

When asked what the key to Justin’s success is, his father David said that his son has a lot of natural talent, but also displays a great work ethic. Despite receiving offers to play for other team, Justin remains devoted to Chivas USA and one day hopes to play for the first team. As of now Justin’s favorite player is the talented Cristiano Ronaldo of Real Madrid, but Ronaldo better watch out, a new boy wonder is one the rise.

Chivas USA is holding tryouts for its Bell Gardens Academy on August 26, if you are interested in registering your child click here.
