Practice Report: July 30
Chivas USA went through its final preparations on Friday morning before tomorrow’s match at The Home Depot Center against the Columbus Crew, doing a short video session before hitting the field.
The team went through a usual stretching and jogging warm up before partnering up to hit long balls, and then the team shifted into a finishing drill where the players split into two groups, and the losing group ended up doing push-ups as punishment. A brief scrimmage on a shortened field followed, with Head Coach Martín Vásquez using a potential starting lineup against another group.
During the scrimmage, Jonathan Bornstein and Sal Zizzo worked with Technical Coach Nick Theslof on the side to ramp up their ball skills as Bornstein returns from a knee injury suffered two weeks ago, and Zizzo continues to get back to full fitness after knee surgery about seven months ago.
With Bornstein and Mariano Trujillo (suspended for yellow card accumulation) both missing from tomorrow’s lineup, the Red-and-White will still be looking to get the result against the Eastern Conference leaders.
