SATURDAY NIGHT FIREWORKS AS CHIVAS USA TAKES ON PHILADELPHIA: Chivas USA and the Philadelphia Union will meet for the first time in history in a firework-filled night of soccer this Saturday at The Home Depot Center. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will feature a 15-minute firework display at the conclusion of the game. A special Family Pack is available for the match, giving fans 4 tickets, 4 hats, and 4 hot dogs, all for just $58. CHIVAS USA TO HOST U.S. OPEN CUP GAME AT TITAN STADIUM IN FULLERTON TONIGHT: Chivas USA will play its third round U.S. Open Cup match at Titan Stadium on the campus of Cal State Fullerton at 7:30 p.m. PT tomorrow, June 29. The Red-and-White will host the winner of the second round match between the Austin Aztex and the Arizona Sahuaros, a game which will be played tomorrow evening. Tickets for the match start at $10 for General Admission, and discounted tickets are also available for Chivas USA season ticket holders, special group packages and fundraising opportunities. ‘MARCH TO THE MATCH’ WITH BAND OF THE GAME AND FANS STARTS AT 6:30 ON SATURDAY, JULY 3: A new tradition has come to The Home Depot Center in 2010, with Chivas USA fans, the Union Ultras supporters group, and the Band of the Game (the Long Beach Junior Concert Group), all gathering for the ‘March to the Match.’ With everyone making noise and getting ready for the match, all fans are encouraged to join the group when it leaves from Lot 11 at 6:30 p.m. PT on Saturday, July 3, continuing this new event which will occur prior to every home match the Red-and-White play. CHIVAS USA MIDFIELDER PAULO NAGAMURA TO CHAT LIVE ONLINE WITH FANS THIS FRIDAY, JULY 2: Recently re-acquired midfielder Paulo Nagamura will chat live with fans this Friday, July 2 at 1:30 p.m. PT at cdchivasusa.com/chat. The Brazilian defensive midfielder will answer questions from fans as Nagamura continues training ahead of his return to the field with Chivas USA when the transfer window opens on July 15. BORNSTEIN FINISHES PARTICIPATION IN WORLD CUP AND RETURNS TO LOS ANGELES: Chivas USA captain Jonathan Bornstein and the rest of the United States National Team have finished their participation in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, earning a 1-1-2 record (W-L-T) and falling in the round of 16. Bornstein came into the team for its final group stage match, starting in a dramatic victory over Algeria, and also played well in the team’s next match, a 2-1 extra time loss to Ghana. Bornstein has returned to Southern California and may be available for Chivas USA’s firework-filled match against Philadelphia this weekend.

CHIVAS USA U-16 TEAM CONCLUDE DEVELOPMENT ACADEMY PLAYOFF RUN: The Chivas USA U-16 Team enjoyed a great Development Academy season in 2009-10, finishing its year with a 14-8-7 record and making the national playoffs, which took place this past weekend in Greensboro, N.C. After earning a tie with the Dallas Texans in the team’s first postseason match, the team then fell by a 2-1 score to Baltimore Bays Chelsea and then lost 2-0 to the Kansas City Wizards. ‘CHIVAS AT THE PARK L.A.’ CONTINUES SATURDAY, JULY 10 AT GRIFFITH STADIUM IN LOS ANGELES: Chivas USA continues the popular ‘Chivas at the Park L.A.’ program, and next up into the series of soccer clinics taking place in various parks throughout Los Angeles will be a session on Saturday, July 10 at Griffith Stadium at 3401 Riverside Drive in Los Angeles. The clinics, which offer participating boys and girls ages 5-15 the opportunity to learn soccer techniques and practice drills that highlight teamwork in an environment that promotes the importance of fitness for the entire family, cost just $5 and include 90 minutes of soccer instruction, a Chivas at the Park t-shirt, and a certificate of completion. ‘SANGRE NUEVA’ TRYOUTS FRIDAY, JULY 9: Chivas USA will hold ‘Sangre Nueva’ Youth Team tryouts on Friday, July 9 in the San Bernardino Soccer Complex in San Bernardino. Players born between 1992 and 1997 will have a chance to show their skills in front of representatives from both Chivas USA and Chivas de Guadalajara, and there will also be an open tryout for older players. SUPERLIGA CREDENTIAL APPLICATIONS: Media planning to cover SuperLiga 2010 can apply for credentials beginning today, Monday, June 14, using the online accreditation form at http://sum.iwebreg.com/apply. The deadline for applications is Friday, July 9, 2010. No credential applications will be accepted after the deadline. Please be aware that due to the strong media interest expected for the tournament, credentials per organization will be limited. 

CHIVAS DE GUADALAJARA CONTINUES PRE-SEASON AHEAD OF COPA LIBERTADORES SEMIFINAL MATCH: Chivas de Guadalajara kicked off pre-season in Colima, Mexico as the team continues their preparation for the 2010 Apertura season and the semifinal match of Copa Libertadores against Universidad de Chile on July 28.
