Macotelo and Santos Released
Chivas USA made a pair of roster moves on Wednesday, releasing midfielder José Macotelo and forward Maicon Santos. Both players had served primarily as substitutes in 2010, with Santos scoring one goal in nine games (three starts), and Macotelo making three appearances as a substitute.
Since joining the team on August 21, 2009, Santos has made 19 appearances for Chivas USA (11 starts), scoring two goals and adding an assist. The Brazilian forward, 26, had previously played professionally in Brazil, Tunisia, Libya and Israel before joining the Red-and-White on loan. Macotelo, 24, was on loan from Puntarenas F.C. in his native Costa Rica, and the midfielder had made three substitute appearances for the club since joining on April 30.
