They’re back! Midfielder Oswaldo Minda and forward Juan Agudelo made their first appearance this year in Chivas USA’s training Friday morning. While Minda trained the entire session with the team, Agudelo sat out. The forward returned to Los Angeles Thursday night after taking part in the U.S. National Team’s scoreless draw with Canada on Tuesday evening in Houston.

In Friday’s session the team focused on fitness and then held an inter-squad scrimmage, something that Minda had not done since his return from his native Ecuador last Tuesday.

“It was a very difficult first training for me, but I’m very happy to be back with the group,” Minda said at the end of practice.

In 2012, the Ecuadorian international made 22 appearances for the Red-and-White (20 starts). After Friday’s training, Minda spoke with Coach Chelis and both agreed on what the team needs to reach in the 2013 season.

“My goals with the club remain the same as last year; I want to win the championship,” said Minda. “At the very least, we need to get to the top spots.”

With Chivas USA off on Saturday and Sunday, Minda will not have a free weekend, returning to training Saturday morning. The rest of the players will return to training on Monday morning to continue preparing for a scrimmage against the Chicago Fire scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 11:30 am. Fans are welcome to attend; both the scrimmage and parking are free.
