Taking over this week, MLS hosted the Player Combine in Ft. Lauderdale and then moved onto the SuperDraft on Thursday. Chivas USA selected University of Connecticut’s Carlos Alvarez in the second overall pick.

Below are the Western Conference SuperDraft picks:

Portland Timbers coach Caleb Porter continues making moves in an effort to put together his ideal roster. This week, Real Salt Lake obtained the rights of former Timber Robbie Findlay, while San Jose Earthquakes acquired Mike Fucito from the Portland team. Colorado Rapids signed Dillon Serna as a Homegrown Player and Chilean winger Kevin Harbottle, who most recently played with Universidad Catolica in Chile.


Chivas USA began preseason on Thursday; players reported for physicals and returned on Friday for first day of training. All other Western Conference teams will begin preseason on Monday, Jan. 21.
