MLS Commissioner Don Garber held his annual State of the League address Monday afternoon via teleconference and along with the announcement of MLS Best XI and the possibility of a 20th expansion club, the future of Chivas USA was also addressed.

“We are excited for the future of Chivas USA,” Commissioner Garber said about the club. “I continue to believe that we have the opportunity to have a special club in Los Angeles with a tremendous promise and opportunity that is to tap into that enormous Hispanic community in LA. We’ve got a lot of work to do to re-launch that club, but I do believe that we will be able to achieve the success that’s been eluding us in the past."

Commissioner Garber flew in from New York for the first press conference with Jorge Vergara held on Tuesday, November 13 since obtaining full ownership in late August. The commissioner spoke with media after the conference and continued to express his support for the club in its search for a new home.

“We’ve been working for about a year or so on a project here and we’re going to continue now that ownership has been finalized and we’re going to try to get that stadium back on track,” Garber said. “There certainly has been a delay with those discussions with USC who has a huge interest but there’s a wide variety of sites in Southern California.”
