That are some of the qualities a coach looks for in his players? Hard work on and off the field, dedication and most importantly, results on the field. And so far, Chivas USA’s U8 team shows a promising future for the club, going undefeated since their start in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League mid-September, notching 17 goals in favor and only one against. This month’s Academy player to watch for is the U8 captain, Juanito Zaragosa.

According to Chivas USA’s U8 Head Coach Marcus Gomez, Zaragosa epitomizes what a Youth Academy player should be: talented and with a strong work ethic. The young player has started demonstrating skills beyond his age range. In the team’s last match in a two-match jamboree, Zaragosa notched three goals in the U8’s 7-0 victory over Real SoCal White. Zaragosa also stood out in the team’s first match of the season, scoring a few goals against Beach FC.

But in order to succeed on game days, Zaragosa works hard in every training session, going full speed during each and every session. His passion for the game of soccer has most certainly rubbed off on his teammates, as their respect for him has earned him the team captain armband.

“Juanito Zaragoza is a player to watch in the coming years at Chivas USA, not just by his talent, but by way of his contagious smile and happy go lucky personality,” said Head Coach Marcus Gomez.

Up next, the young squad will face South Bay Force in Rincon Park in Chino Hills. For more information on the Chivas USA U8 Team, click here.
