New month, new beginning
Chivas USA has landed in Canada to face Vancouver Whitecaps FC tonight at 7 p.m. in BC Place. The Red-and-White will look to shake off the streak that clouded over the month of September and take three points against a Whitecaps team desperate to notch their own playoff berth.
The Red-and-White will be looking to revert September’s luck, month in which the team was not able to take one point in their six games. Despite the scores, playoff hopes remain, but all depends in what the Red-and-White can do in the upcoming four games. The Goats returned to The Home Depot Center last Saturday after two consecutive road games to face Real Salt Lake. Despite the match statistics in favor of Chivas, the final score was not; the Goats were defeated 4-0.
“We just need to be able to score some goals,” said defender Ante Jazic. “[We need to] get a lead for once and not always be playing from behind. It’s difficult when you’re chasing the game.”
Meanwhile, Vancouver continues looking to earn their playoff berth. Like Chivas USA, Whitecaps were not able to earn a win in the September, but they were able to take two points from two draws. The home team has not been able to get a win at BC Place since August when the team defeated Real Salt Lake.
This match will be the third of the season between the two clubs, the first two hosted by the Red-and-White at The Home Depot Center. The first time Vancouver visited the Goats was in the second week of the season, a match that ended in a 1-0 victory in favor of the Canadian team. The last time the Whitecaps came to Los Angeles was on July 7; this match ended in a scoreless draw. The overall record for Chivas USA against Vancouver is 0-1-3 (W-L-T).
