It wasn’t that long ago that Bobby Burling was playing wearing the Red-and-White colors for the first time. If you don’t recall Bobby from the 2007-2009 era, here’s something to remind you of those years:

Who wants to see another one of these?

Bobby Burling! After acquiring his rights on July 6th, defender Bobby Burling officially became a Chivas USA player for the second time. Burling was initially part of the Red-and-White from 2007 to 2009 when he was traded to San Jose Earthquakes. After two seasons with the Earthquakes, Burling was selected by expansion team Montreal Impact but was never signed. He joined the Goats in early June and since then has played with the Reserves Team.

This morning, Burling travelled with the First Team ahead of tomorrow’s match at Colorado Rapids in Dick’s Sporting Goods Park. Make sure to watch Bobby Burling’s possible debut tomorrow at 6pm on KDOC or KWHY-22.

After playing 90 minutes in last Sunday’s SuperClásico, defender Ante Jazic headed to Florida where the Canadian National took their fourth consecutive win, this time, in a friendly match with Trinidad and Tobago that ended with a final 2-0 victory for the Canadians.

The first goal of the match came in the 58th minute when Tosaint Ricketts’ right footed shot from inside the box hit the back of the net. The second and final goal of the match came via penalty kick taken by Real Salt Lake player Will Johnson.

Jazic will reunite with the Goats in Colorado this Friday ahead of the team's match vs Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 6pm PT.

Up next for ‘the Reds’ will be back-to-back games in the 2014 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers where they will face Panama on September 7 and 11th; the first match will be disputed in BMO Field in Toronto, Canada and the second in Panama City.

After a day off, Chivas USA’s First Team returned to training this morning ahead of the team’s away match this Saturday, August 18 against Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park. As usual, the team kicked off training with a warm-up session lead by Strength and Conditioning Coach Jim Liston. Also included in training today, midfielder Ryan Smith is slowly coming back as he recovers from his hamstring injury that has sidelined him for the past few weeks. Once the team reunited for a scrimmage, Smith and midfielder Peter Vagenas continued training separately.

Surprise, surprise. Chivas USA goalkeeper Dan Kennedy is nominated for MLS Save of the Week for one of his many heroics in last Sunday’s game vs LA Galaxy. Although the final score doesn’t reflect the amazing job Kennedy did in the game, his save in the 37th minute to a Landon Donovan header was picked as a nominee. So far in the season, Kennedy has made 75 saves, and currently maintains 1.19 goals against average, keeping him among the top three goalkeepers in the league. Aside from his nod, Kennedy was also named to MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week for Week 23.

Last time we checked, that should be good for a call-up to the United States National Team (*cough* Jürgen Klinsmann *cough*)

Make sure to cast your vote for Dan Kennedy now and invite all your friends to vote for him; poll closes this Thursday, August 16 at 11:59 p.m. Click here to vote now

Black Army 1850’s support does not stop in The Home Depot Center with Chivas USA. Just last Sunday, the supporter group kicked off a canned food drive that will continue until the end of the season and hopefully, MLS Cup playoffs. All of the proceeds will go to the Los Angeles Food Bank for the upcoming Thanksgiving dinner.

If you would like to donate canned goods, make sure to stop by the Black Army’s tailgate located in the Northeast corner of The Home Depot Center before every home game and don’t forget to tell all your friends on Twitter using hashtag #GoatsFeedLosAngeles

HEAD COACH – ROBIN FRASER:

Thoughts on game: “First off obviously that’s embarrassing for the magnitude of this game to have the result fall the way that it did. It’s certainly not good enough. I think we started the game too tentatively and it just put us on the back foot from the very beginning.”

Moving forward: “It’s not like you can run and hide from these results, they are what they are, we have to move forward and, you have to really take accountability and be accountable for some of the things that went wrong. Through the four goals they were all turnovers, with little to no pressure and that’s not good enough for sure. In terms of our decisions with the ball they were not good enough; I think that there is plenty of blame to go around everywhere.”

GOALKEEPER – DAN KENNEDY:

Thoughts on the match tonight: “We were outclassed, we were lucky we got out of the game with a 4-0 score. I am at a bit of a loss for words. They just have a lot of class on their team. If you give them as many opportunities as we gave them tonight then they are going to put away some goals, and that is exactly what happened. The result was not much different from the last time we played them and that is what disappoints me the most. We learn from this and move on.”

Missing element to be able to knock in goal: “I think it’s become a little bit mental now, it’s on our minds and one of the problems that we are having. It is very frustrating. I know there was a point in the match where it was only 1-0 and we had a couple scoring opportunities that we did not capitalize on. Those are the opportunities that we need to finish to stay in a game like this. When you do not get those you continue to open yourself up and push for a goal, and that is when they scored the second, third and fourth.”

DEFENDER – DANNY CALIFF:

Thoughts on match: “It looked like essentially the same game as last time. It felt like a track meet and we made the same mistakes as we did before. We had a couple really good opportunities in the second half and a good fifteen minutes but we just didn’t convert. We were not able to move the score up 2-1, and they just took control of the game again.”

Will be Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Colby O’Donis! That’s right. The creator of the song “What you Got” featuring Akon will be singing the American national anthem this Sunday, August 12 for the SuperClásico. Colby has also participated in hit songs like Lady GaGa’s Grammy-nominated hit “Just Dance.”

Chivas USA’s Dan Kennedy and Juan Pablo Angel were joined by LA Galaxy’s Landon Donovan and Omar Gonzalez in a press conference held today in The Home Depot Center ahead of this Sunday’s SuperClásico. As the four players walked into the TV Studio the tension and awkwardness was felt instantly in the room full of media members [see photo above].

Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was the first to open the conference to talk about the team’s defensive line saying, “We’re among the best because there’s a great relationship within the team. Galaxy has a great attack, as we saw in the last game… But I’m confident in our group.”

When asked about the importance of the SuperClásico and whether he wants to score against his former club, forward Juan Pablo Angel stated, “Clásicos are meant to be won, not played… I don’t care if I score; I just want to win.”
