Last April 19, Chivas USA’s U13 captured the 35th Edition of the Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup for the first time in Red-and-White history. After six hard-fought games, the Red-and-White earned a 1-0 win over TSC Hurricane in the championship game, with the lone goal being scored by regular season lead scorer, Misael Becerra. Becerra’s finish not only captured the Red-and-White’s third Academy title, but it’s now being considered one of the best goals in the tournament.

El pasado 19 de abril, la Sub-13 de Chivas USA se coronó campeón de la Trigésima Quinta Edición del Dr. Pepper Dallas Cup por primera vez en la historia del club. Después de seis partidos fuertemente disputados, los Rojiblancos obtuvieron un triunfo por el mínimo marcador sobre TSC Hurricane en la gran final, con el único gol anotado por el máximo goleador de la temporada regular, Misael Becerra. El gol de Becerra no solamente le dio a la Academia Rojiblanca su tercer título, pero ahora está siendo considerado como uno de los mejores goles del torneo.

El Primer Equipo de Chivas USA recibió una grata sorpresa después de la sesión de entrenamiento del viernes al ver a más de 50 niños esperándolos para conocerlos. Los jóvenes, junto a sus padres y entrenadores, llegaban proveniente de Chivas Pomona, club afiliado a Chivas USA que incluye los equipos Sub-9, Sub-10, Sub-11 y Sub-13.

Los futuros talentos del fútbol llegaron justo a tiempo para presenciar el inicio del entrenamiento de los Rojiblancos a las 9:30 de la mañana del viernes. Como invitados especiales, el grupo obtuvo la oportunidad de bajar a la cancha y ver de primera mano como entrenan los futbolistas profesionales. Los niños vieron con ansias el entrenamiento, señalando a sus jugadores favoritos y esperando que el balón llegase a ellos para poder regresarla.

Una vez el Director Técnico José Luis Real dio por finalizado el entrenamiento, el ansía y la felicidad de los jóvenes crecieron por momentos. Uno por uno, los jugadores de Chivas USA se fueron acercando para saludar al grupo y así tomarse fotos y firmar autógrafos con los chicos que algún día podrían ser como ellos.

Chivas USA’s First Team received a pleasant surprise after Friday’s training session upon seeing over 50 kids waiting to meet them. The youngsters, along with their parents and coaches, were visiting from Chivas Pomona, affiliate club of Chivas USA which includes U9, U10, U11, and U13 teams.

The future soccer stars arrived just in time when the Red-and-White’s training session kicked off at 9:30 in the morning on Friday. As special guests, the group obtained the opportunity to go down to the field and watch first-hand how professional soccer players train. The kids anxiously watched training, pointing out their favorite players in the squad and waiting for the ball to come near them so that they could kick it back.

Upon Head Coach Jose Luis Real calling the end of the session, the wish and happiness of the kids increased by the moment. One-by-one, the Chivas USA players approached the group and began taking pictures and signing autographs to the young players who dream of becoming professionals one day.

Chivas USA’s BU15’s reached the Arsenal FC Spring Classic showcase final over the weekend. The young Goats kicked off action on Saturday, defeating Rebels White 5-1 in Diamond Valley Sports Park. Later that day, Chivas USA played Roadrunner United FC to a 2-2 draw. After the first day, Chivas finished first in the Flight B group and moved on to the next phase.

On Sunday, the Red-and-White returned to the field and defeated HG Eagles 5-0 in the semi-final match and advanced to the final championship game, but fell 2-0 to an undefeated Golden State U15 Platinum.

Ivan Gutierrez lead the young Goats as the top goal scorer for the team in the showcase with four goals and two assists; Orlando Perez and Bryan Galindo each scored two goals, while Dylan Juarez, Arturo Garica, Jason Ballejo and Frank Lara each notched one for Chivas USA.

Chivas BU15 are off this weekend, but will return to action in the Southern California Development Soccer League on Saturday, April 7 when they host CZ Elite at 10 am at Whittier Soccer Complex. You can follow all the latest Youth Academy updates and news on Twitter: @ChivasUSAYouth.

Chivas USA’s Youth Academy held its second of three I.D. Camps on Monday evening at Veterans Park in Pomona in search of talent within the 1999 & 2000 categories. The U14 team formed will be participating in U.S. Soccer Development Academy in the 2013/2014 season that starts in September.

In the second camp, about 60 potential players participated, an increase from the first tryout camp held in January.  With coaches from all age categories present, the staff was very pleased with the outcome and the talent level. About five to six new players that impressed the staff will be contacted and invited to come out and train with the current U14 team, led by Coach Hugo Perez, Jr.

“We are looking for smart soccer players, players who make good soccer decisions on and off the ball, good attitude, good work rate and of course has to be very technically sound with the ball,” said U16 coach Mike Munoz.

Chivas USA Youth Academy forward Caleb Calvert was named U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy’s Player of the Week after a superb performance with the U18 squad last weekend.

Calvert, 16, recently joined the U18 team after playing the first half of the 2012-2013 season with the U16’s. On Saturday, the young Goats earned their first win of the year thanks to two goals from Calvert, helping lead the team to the final 2-1 victory over Crossfire Premiere. The following day, the Phelan, Calif. native repeated himself and notched another two goals, this time against Vancouver Whitecaps FC’s U17/18 Team. The Red-and-White took a 3-2 victory over the Canadian team and now hold a 7-5-5 (W-L-T) record and sit in fifth place of the Southwest Division.

Before joining the U18 squad, Calvert had scored 13 goals with the U16s, becoming the top goal scorer for the young team.

Over 40 aspiring young soccer players joined Chivas USA’s Youth Academy on Monday night for the first I.D. Camp of three scheduled through the first half of the year. The camp was designated to find player’s for the new Chivas USA U14 squad that will take part in U.S. Soccer Development Academy 2013-2013 season starting in September of this year.

Nerves and excitement emerged as both participants and their families saw First Team coach Jose Luis ‘Chelis’ Sanchez Solá arrive in the tryouts. Chivas de Guadalajara Youth Director Jose Luis Real joined Chelis for the tryouts, and expressed his amazement with Southern California talent. Aside from Sanchez Solá and Real, all Youth Academy coaches oversaw the tryouts, with Youth Director Sacha van der Most having the final word.

“The tryouts were great, all the kids were super excited, especially with Chelis there,” said U16 coach Mike Munoz. “We had five or six kids that really caught our eye, and we’re going to keep in touch with those players and see what talent we find in the other camps.”

Chivas USA U16 players Hugo Arellano, Joshua Perez and Coach Mike Munoz joined the U.S. U15 Team training camp last Saturday in Carson. And this Thursday, the two players and coach will go head-to-head against the Red-and-White U15 squad at 5 p.m. in The Home Depot Center’s Field 2.

Just last Sunday, Chivas USA’s U16 squad was able to earn their third consecutive win, this time against Real So Cal. Mark Hernandez, Edgar Murillo and Alejandro Vergara each scored one goal to give the young Red-and-White team the 3-nil victory. With the win, the Goats remain firm in second place with a 3-1-2 record.

Meanwhile, the U.S. squad initiated camp last Saturday. Chivas, along with 11 other teams, give the squad two players currently listed in U.S. Soccer Development Academy rosters.

Chivas USA's new president Jose David watched the U11 Youth Academy team take over 1st place in the Southern California Developmental Soccer League by defeating FC Golden State 2-1 in a hard fought game today in home turf in Pomona, California. David cheered on the  young Goats and was impressed with the talent level on the field. After the game, he addressed the players and coaches, and spoke with parents and family members congratulating and thanking them for their dedication, commitment and support. David also expressed his desire to one day seeing one of young players on the Chivas USA First Team.
