Since his first call-up to the United States National Team, forward Juan Agudelo has been considered the future of U.S. Soccer. And after Chivas USA acquired his services in mid-May from the New York Red Bulls, Agudelo has also become the future of the Red-and-White.

In his first match with the club, Agudelo began showing the spark that the Goats needed on the field, becoming a dangerous player on the pitch. His first goal with the club came just one week after his debut in the first match against Seattle Sounders off a cross by former Sounder James Riley.

And who could forget the final goal of the season in the dying minutes of the match at FC Dallas on October 28. The Goats were down 2-0 in the 90th minute of the match, but after a goal from Laurent Courtois in the 91+ minute and another by Agudelo in the 93+, the Goats were able to earn a final 2-2 draw.

After a stellar performance in the final game of the year, Agudelo received his first call-up of the year to the National Team for a friendly match in Russia. Agudelo provided an assist in a goal by Michael Bradley for the final 2-1 victory for the Americans.

Chivas USA’s U16 forward Joshua Perez has been named U.S. Soccer Development Academy’s Peak Performer for Week 7 after a great performance in last Sunday’s match. Perez, 14, helped lead his team to a 4-0 victory over Pateadores, assisting in the first three goals of the match, and notching his own goal in the 61st minute of the match.

“Josh still is the youngest player on our team,” said Chivas USA U15 Head Coach Mike Munoz. “We’ve asked him this year to step up and be one of the leaders in the team and to start putting up bigger numbers in terms of scoring goals and assists and he’s really taken to it; obviously with one goal and three assists [last weekend] is a job well done.”

With the win, the Red-and-White U16 squad was able to move to second place in the Southwest Division, with a 2-1-2 (W-L-T) record and one less match played than first place Real Salt Lake. Perez has played in four matches (three starts)

Perez will join now Chivas USA U15/16 Coach Mike Munoz and fellow teammate Hugo Arellano for a one-week U.S. U15 National Team Camp to be held at The Home Depot Center from Oct 27 to Nov 3.
