Goal of the Week
It took Chivas USA 158 minutes to score the first goal of the 2013 season. And the man in charge of scoring the first goal was forward Juan Agudelo, who is now nominated for MLS Goal of the Week and MLSsoccer.com's Top Performers!
Just as the Red-and-White were down 1-0 to FC Dallas at the 68th minute, Walter Vilchez served a long ball over the top to Agudelo, who with two Dallas defenders, crossed the ball to his left and unleashed a strike for his first goal of the season, and the equalizer for Chivas USA. The Goats went on to earn their first win of the season after Oswaldo Minda and Giovani Casillas scored for the Red-and-White.

Re-live Agudelo’s goal:
After opening the scoreboard in last Saturday's Chivas USA game at Seattle, midfielder Nick LaBrocca is nominated for MLS' Goal of the Week. The New Jersey native scored his second goal of the season in the eighth minute of that match off a pass by newcomer Shalrie Joseph (his first assist with the Goats). Aside from his nomination to the league-wide honor, LaBrocca was also selected CDChivasUSA.com's Man of the Match.
Even though last Saturday’s loss in the second SuperClásico of the season was tough, there is somewhat of a bright side: midfielder Paolo Cardozo’s goal against his old club, and first ever MLS goal is now nominated for MLS’ Goal of the Week.
Cardozo’s goal came just in the 52nd minute when the Red-and-White were down 2-0. Midfielder Ryan Smith went past three Galaxy defenders to give the pass to the Uruguayan who was just at the 18-yard line, and struck a shot that goalkeeper Josh Saunders could not stop.

After scoring 58 goals with the New York Red Bulls from 2007-2010, Juan Pablo Angel returned to Red Bull Arena, to score yet another goal in the Harrison, New Jersey stadium, this time with Chivas USA. Angel opened up the scoring in the 47th minute of the match as defender Raushan McKenzie headed the ball to the Colombian striker to give the Red-and-White an early lead. A few minutes later, New York would score the equalizer for the final 1-1 score in the Goats second match in five days. Now, Angel’s 70th career goal is up for MLS Goal of the Week.
