Chivas USA’s Ante Jazic and Oswaldo Minda culminated this year’s international duty after Tuesday night’s final FIFA date.
Red-and-White defender Jazic was unavailable for Tuesday’s match against Honduras due to illness, but the Canadians took a brutal 8-1 loss to the home team. After the loss, the Canadians dropped to third place and out of contention for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. In the World Cup qualifiers, Jazic helped Les Rouges to a 6-2-3 (W-L-T) record.
Ecuadorian midfielder Minda came into the match for La Tri in the 70th minute, helping the squad to a 1-1 draw with Venezuela. With the draw, Ecuador moved up to second place of CONMEBOL standings with 17 points, just three points away from first place Argentina. Ecuador will continue looking for a spot in the 2014 FIFA World Cup on March 26, 2013 when CONMEBOL qualifiers resume.
Both players will return to Los Angeles and prepare for Chivas USA’s final two games of the 2012 season against Colorado Rapids and FC Dallas.
Defender Ante Jazic is proving he’s still got it. Just today, Jazic received his fourth call-up of the year for the Canadian National Team’s friendly with Trinidad and Tobago scheduled for Wednesday, August 15 at the Central Broward Regional Park in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
"It’s always a privilege to get called-in by your National Team,” said Jazic. “I’m looking forward to playing with the guys, we have a good group. We started the qualification process off well and we’re looking to build momentum with this friendly against Trinidad and Tobago.”
In his international career, Jazic has made 28 appearances with the ‘Reds,’ participating in the team’s first matches in the CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers earlier this year.
