All-Star
Defender James Riley joined Chivas USA during the 2011 MLS Expansion Draft after three successful years with Seattle Sounders FC and now receives his first MLS All-Star Team nomination. Since his integration to the club, Riley has helped lead the team to be among the top four best back lines in the Western Conference (seventh overall). He has played in 13 games (all starts), and so far, has two assists, that includes Juan Agudelo’s first goal with the club in the team’s last match vs Seattle Sounders on May 26, match that earned him a spot in MLSsoccer.com's Team of the Week for Week 12.
Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy receives his first MLS All-Star nomination this year as the 29 year-old Goat has had a stellar year with the Red-and-White. So far in the 2012 season, Kennedy sits among the top four goalkeepers in the league with 47 saves in the 13 games he has played (all starts) and currently holds a 1.08 goals against average (same as league goalkeeping leader Andy Gruenebaum of Columbus Crew.) Because of Kennedy’s heroics, he has been nominated for MLS Save of the Week four times this season and was named MLS Player of the Week on April 16 after the team’s 1-0 victory against Toronto at BMO Field.
