Our Man of the Match honor in the game against Seattle goes to none other than Nick LaBrocca. In the eighth minute of the match, LaBrocca was able to open up the scoreboard as he received a pass from teammate Shalrie Joseph. LaBrocca was then able to turn around and strike the ball past Seattle Goalkeeper Michael Gspurning, giving Chivas USA the early lead.

LaBrocca pushed the team throughout the entire game, making passes, crosses and pushing the team forward. Despite crashing into teammate Ben Zemanski in the second half of the match and suffering a bruise on the left side of his face, LaBrocca got back up and continued playing (after being aided by medical staff, of course).

It was a great international date yesterday as both Chivas USA's Ante Jazic and Oswaldo Minda took a victory with their respective national teams.

Jazic played all 90 minutes in the Canadian National Team's 1-0 victory over Panama in BMO Field. With the win, the Reds have moved up in Group C from second to first place with seven points. Although the Canadians took the victory, Panama sits just one point away; Jazic and Canada will have to take yet another victory in Panama City next Tuesday if they wish to remain up top.

Meanwhile, midfielder Oswaldo Minda was on bench for the Ecuadorian National Team's 1-0 victory over Bolivia in Quito, Ecuador. With the win, Ecuador moves up to third place in the standings with 12 points (the top three teams automatically earn a berth in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup). Up next for La Tri is an away match against Uruguay in Montevideo this Tuesday, September 11. The Uruguayans suffered a brutal 4-0 defeat last night to Colombia; the Ecuadorans will try to take advantage of the team's standing and earn yet another three points.

Just like we told you yesterday, Shalrie Joseph appeared in training with a brace on his right elbow. Today, he just had his elbow wrapped during practice and trained throughout the entire session. So, what was the cause of the brace? We spoke to Shalrie and he said it was caused by an awkward fall in last Sunday’s match at San Jose. Luckily, the Red-and-White midfielder says he is feeling a lot better and should be good to play this Saturday at Seattle.

It was a muggy and rainy training session for Chivas USA as they prepare for this Saturday’s match at Seattle Sounders at 1pm. Midfielder Ryan Smith returned to full action today as he participated in the team’s mini-scrimmage. We spotted Shalrie Joseph with a brace around his right elbow; staff informed us that he had minor pain on his elbow and that he will still be eligible for Saturday’s game.

Here’s a little taste of what went on in practice today:

Dan Kennedy might’ve missed out in last week’s MLS Save of the Week, but he’s back again. Although the result wasn’t in favor of the Goats this last Sunday at Buck Shaw Stadium, Kennedy’s saves avoided a much larger goals against number.

Kennedy’s save nominated for this week’s MLS Save of the Week is for one against Marvin Chavez. In the 68th minute of the match, Honduran Marvin Chavez took a shot on goal off a cross; Kennedy, with his cat-like reflexes, was able to push the ball out for a corner kick.

After a long day out on the green, all attendees will be able to chill out in the Beach-themed party in the golf course grounds with the ChivaGirls!

HEAD COACH – ROBIN FRASER:

On team’s performance in the second half: We talked about being compact. I felt like we weren’t as disciplined in the beginning of the game as we would like to have been. As the game went on we got better and defensively we got better and as a result guys were able to push forward and create some good opportunities and show good character.

On the Goats’ attacking front: Well, we’ve scored five goals in our last two games, so certainly we’ve created more chances over the last couple of games than we have pretty much all year. So we like to feel like we’re moving in the right direction there. … It’s just been things we’ve been talking about. I think a lot for the year is aggressive running, aggressive running in behind, playing balls in behind, and putting balls into dangerous spots. We don’t score if we don’t put balls in dangerous spots and I think we’ve done a better job of that in the past two games.

MIDFIELDER - SHALRIE JOSEPH:

On the team’s comeback: Being 3-0 down and coming back and getting a point shows a lot of character in this team. We just have to move forward and try and get another one and get some points Saturday in San Jose.

On scoring two goals: It feels good to score two goals; it doesn’t matter what team. It’s bittersweet that it’s against my old team, and it feels good. But it’s more than about me right now. It’s about a team trying to make a playoff run. That’s what we’ve got to look forward to.

On his return to Gillette Stadium: To be in the away locker room is something different. I haven’t seen the away locker room in 10 years. As I said, it’s not about me right now. It’s about the team trying to make a playoff run. Even though it feels good to score – to get one point and score two goals – there were definitely opportunities and chances we had to win it, and we’re going to have to look at it and work on it in the next couple of days and make sure we’re ready for San Jose.
