Twenty-one goals ago, Chivas USA forward Erick “Cubo” Torres was making his home and club debut as he started and went the full 90 minutes in the Red-and-White’s match against Toronto FC on July 17, 2013. In said match, Torres began something special that would later take him to beat Major League Soccer’s all-time record as the top Mexican-born goal scorer, as well as tie Ante Razov’s single season scoring record of 14.

In the 78th minute of the lone match of the season against the Eastern Conference side, Torres received a pass from former Goat Tristan Bowen, and went on to place it through two Toronto FC defenders to score his first goal with Chivas USA. The tally not only marked the first for the Guadalajara native, but also symbolized the first win for the Red-and-White in 15 league games.

Even though Torres won’t be able to notch another goal against Toronto FC this season due to suspension, what other player would you like to see score in Sunday’s game? Leave a comment below!

¡Deja tu comentario abajo!

The first step moving towards Chivas USA’s 2013 season begins Monday afternoon as Major League Soccer will hold a Waiver Draft via conference call at 12:30 p.m. PT, with all clubs participating except for MLS Cup finalists Houston Dynamo and LA Galaxy. Each club will announce the results of the Waiver Draft separately.

As of Monday morning, the Goats have not yet released a list of players eligible for the draft; a full list of league-wide eligible players will be listed on the club’s site before the draft. Players available to Monday’s draft are those whom (1) are not in a club’s plans for 2013, and (2) are NOT re-entry draft eligible (the latter to be held Thursday, December 6). Such players will be available to clubs in the Waiver Draft via the waiver draft order. As with all players that clear waivers, any players not selected in the Waiver Draft will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
