Two of three I.D. Camps in the books

By Olivia Cervantes

Chivas USA’s Youth Academy held its second of three I.D. Camps on Monday evening at Veterans Park in Pomona in search of talent within the 1999 & 2000 categories. The U14 team formed will be participating in U.S. Soccer Development Academy in the 2013/2014 season that starts in September.

In the second camp, about 60 potential players participated, an increase from the first tryout camp held in January.  With coaches from all age categories present, the staff was very pleased with the outcome and the talent level. About five to six new players that impressed the staff will be contacted and invited to come out and train with the current U14 team, led by Coach Hugo Perez, Jr.

“We are looking for smart soccer players, players who make good soccer decisions on and off the ball, good attitude, good work rate and of course has to be very technically sound with the ball,” said U16 coach Mike Munoz.

Chivas USA will host one more I.D. Camp for the U13/14 Team on Monday, April 22. If you or someone you know, would like to join the Red-and-White Academy, click here to register now. Make sure to follow all Youth Academy updates on Twitter: @ChivasUSAYouth
