International recap: Agudelo vs Russia

By Olivia Cervantes

Juan Agudelo and the U.S. National Team earned a 2-2 draw Wednesday night to Russia in Kuban Stadium. Michael Bradley scored the lone goal for the Americans, breaking Russia's 449 minutes without conceding a goal.

Agudelo came onto the match in the 63rd minute of the match to replace Josh Gatt. Minutes into the game, Agudelo provided a header to Bradley, who took the shot and notched the equalizer for the Americans. Shortly after, Referee Nicola Rizzoli called a foul inside the box, giving Russia a penalty kick and the lead in the 84th minute. But the match had not yet been finalized as Mix Diskereud scored a goal of his own in the 90th minute for the final 2-2 score. Former Goat Sacha Kljestan also appeared in the match, coming onto the field in the 64th minute.

This match was the final game of the year for the U.S.; upon the new year, the squad will need to continue their preparations ahead of their first World Cup qualifying match of the year against Honduras scheduled for February 6.
