Week 13 brings the City of Brotherly love to the City of Angels and Chivas USA will play host to the Philadelphia Union on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. (PT) at the StubHub Center. Both teams are looking toward the future rather than the past. The Union suffered a tough 4-1 loss to the LA Galaxy in Week 12 while the Red-and-White experienced a 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Portland Timbers. The Union have lost two in a row and five out of their last six. Philadelphia Head Coach John Hackworth is trying to find the right combination of players, particularly on the back line. Chivas Coach Wilmer Cabrera is ready to move on.  The only thing holding back the Goats, ejections, they must finish with eleven players on the field.

I anticipate with the return of Austin Berry to center back should mean Sheanon Williams will return to right back. This is the perfect time for the Goats to get after a struggling defense. The Union has had to try many different combinations due to injuries or suspension to the back line and has had no consistency, especially giving up nine goals in the past two games.

Leandro Barrera should always look to get forward against Williams anytime he is isolated one-versus-one. I expect Carlos Alvarez and Mauro Rosales to float and find the open spaces between Maurice Edu, Williams, Brian Carroll and Fabinho. Defensively the Goats should be aware of Vincent Nogueira, as he will be in the gaps always looking to make things happen with Sebastien Le Toux – if he returns from injury, which is unlike it.

Bottom line, these two teams need to go out and play for the win and move forward. I expect this game to be open in terms of attacking and both teams will have chances to score. Let’s hope forward Erick “Cubo” Torres is the one doing most of the scoring.
