El mediocampista de Chivas USA Oswaldo Minda fue llamado a la Selección ecuatoriana para las Eliminatorias de CONMEBOL rumbo a la Copa Mundial de la FIFA de 2013. Minda, junto a ‘La Tri’ enfrentará a Bolivia en el Estadio Olímpico Atahualpa en Quito este viernes, 7 de septiembre y luego viajaran a Montevideo, Uruguay para su partido ante Uruguay en el Estadio Centenario el martes, 11 de septiembre. El mediocampista no estará en el partido de Chivas USA ante Seattle Sounders programado para este sábado a la 1pm en Century Link Field.

Desde su integración a Chivas USA a finales del año pasado, Minda ha sido llamado regularmente a su selección. El mediocampista de 29 años ha jugado en 13 partidos para los ecuatorianos, que incluye partidos en el torneo sudamericano Copa América, así como partidos de clasificación a la Copa Mundial. Con los rojiblancos, Minda ha jugado en 18 partidos (16 de ellos como titular), marcando su primer gol con el equipo angelino el 14 de abril en el partido ante Toronto FC.

After playing 90 minutes in last Sunday’s SuperClásico, defender Ante Jazic headed to Florida where the Canadian National took their fourth consecutive win, this time, in a friendly match with Trinidad and Tobago that ended with a final 2-0 victory for the Canadians.

The first goal of the match came in the 58th minute when Tosaint Ricketts’ right footed shot from inside the box hit the back of the net. The second and final goal of the match came via penalty kick taken by Real Salt Lake player Will Johnson.

Jazic will reunite with the Goats in Colorado this Friday ahead of the team's match vs Colorado Rapids at Dick's Sporting Goods Park at 6pm PT.

Up next for ‘the Reds’ will be back-to-back games in the 2014 CONCACAF World Cup Qualifiers where they will face Panama on September 7 and 11th; the first match will be disputed in BMO Field in Toronto, Canada and the second in Panama City.

Ecuadorian midfielder Oswaldo Minda and Canadian defender Ante Jazic are out for international duty as both teams prepare for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

Minda was on the bench for the Ecuadoran National Team as the team fell 4-0 to Argentina in the fourth CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifying match. With the loss, Ecuador fell two spots in the standings and is currently in sixth place with six points, having to be among the top four in order to automatically qualify to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. Up next for ‘La Tri’ is their fifth match against fifth place Colombia.

Meanwhile Jazic started and played 88 minutes in Canada’s scoreless draw with the U.S. National Team in last Sunday’s friendly match at BMO Field. The ‘Reds’ will now prepare for their first match as part of CONCACAF’S World Cup Qualifying round this Friday, June 8 against Cuba in Havana. Also taking part of Canada’s Group C is Honduras and Panama.

Chivas USA will be out of MLS activity this weekend but you can still catch Red-and-White defender Ante Jazic and midfielder Oswaldo Minda in action as the two players are currently in camp with their respective national teams. Make sure to catch starter Oswaldo Minda as he and the Ecuadorian National Team square off against Lionel Messi’s Argentina this Saturday as the teams fight for a spot in the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil. The Ecuadorians are currently in fourth place in CONMEBOL’s standings with a record of 3-0-1; the first four teams in the standings will automatically qualify to the World Cup.

Three-year Red-and-White defender Ante Jazic heads up to Toronto with the Canadian National Team as ‘The Reds’ face the United States in a friendly match this Sunday at BMO Field. Jazic has played in 29 games with the Canadian National Team, scoring his only international goal in 2008 in a 2-2 draw with Panama. Chivas USA Academy products Marco Delgado and Ben Spencer played 90 minutes yesterday with the US U18 squad in a scoreless draw with Slovakia in the teams’ participation in the Lisbon Tournament held in Portugal.

This match was the second of the tournament for the Americans and they will now prepare for their final group match against Portugal this Saturday, May 26. The host country has won its first two games against fellow group teams Slovakia and Poland; a win for the U.S. would qualify them to the next round.
