Do you recall Chivas USA’s latest home game where the entire team wore a special patch on their jersey in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month? Now, some of those actual jerseys are up for grabs as part of MLS W.O.R.K.S. continuous efforts to raise awareness and funds for the cause through their league-wide “Soccer Kicks Cancer” campaign.

From now until Friday, Oct. 10, MLS W.O.R.K.S. will be auctioning several game-worn and autographed jerseys that include jerseys from Chivas USA’s own Dan Kennedy, Erick “Cubo” Torres and Leandro Barrera. All proceeds will be donated to the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and then split 50/50 between local and national beneficiaries.

¿Recuerdas el último partido en casa de Chivas USA en el que el equipo entero portó un parche especial en sus playeras en honor al Mes de Sensibilización del Cáncer Infantil? Ahora, algunas de esas playeras están disponibles para ti como parte de los esfuerzos de MLS W.O.R.K.S.  para sensibilizar y recaudar fondos para la causa a través de su campaña, “Soccer Kicks Cancer”.

Desde hoy y hasta el viernes, 10 de octubre, MLS W.O.R.K.S. estará subastando varias playeras usadas durante partidos y/o autografiadas que incluyen a los jugadores de Chivas USA Dan Kennedy, Erick “Cubo” Torres y Leandro Barrera. Todos los fondos recaudados serán destinados al Children’s Oncology Group y serán repartidos 50/50 entre beneficiarios locales y nacionales.

As part of Chivas USA’s Week of Gratitude, the club has teamed up with Heal the Bay to participate in the California Coastal Cleanup Day this Saturday at Venice Beach. Heal the Bay is a non-profit organization dedicated to make the California coastline safe, healthy and clean. Chivas USA will be participating in its second Beach Cleanup Day; this Saturday's cleanup is scheduled from 8 a.m. until noon (PT).

Cleanup volunteers are expected to bring the following: reusable gloves (gardening gloves, for example, are acceptable and encouraged), closed-toe shoes at all times and sign a waiver before the start of the cleanup.

Aside from helping to beautify Venice Beach, the first 100 volunteers will receive a FREE “Week of Gratitude” t-shirt, a gift certificate to Rubio’s Restaurant, one ticket voucher for Chivas USA’s match against Real Salt Lake on Oct. 5 and a raffle ticket for the opportunity to win additional prizes!

Como parte de la Semana de Gratitud de Chivas USA, el club se ha aliado con Heal the Bay para participar en el Día de la Limpieza Costera de California este sábado en Venice Beach. Heal the Bay es una organización no lucrativa dedicada a que la costa de California sea segura, saludable y limpia. El segundo Día de la Limpieza Costera de Chivas USA está programado para las 8:00 a.m. (PT) y hasta el mediodía.

Todos los voluntarios deberán traer consigo lo siguiente: guantes reutilizables (ej.: se aceptan guantes para el jardín), zapatos cerrados en todo momento y el documento de exención firmado previo al inicio de la limpieza.

Además de ayudar a limpiar Venice Beach, los primeros cien voluntarios recibirán una camiseta de “Week of Gratitude” GRATIS, un certificado de regalo al restaurante Rubio’s, un cupón para el partido de Chivas USA ante Real Salt Lake para el 5 de octubre y ¡un boleto para la rifa que incluye varios premios!

It’s September and this month MLS W.O.R.K.S, the league’s community outreach initiative, is celebrating Children’s Cancer Awareness Month with its “Soccer Kicks Cancer” campaign. This year, MLS W.O.R.K.S has partnered with Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the world’s largest organization devoted exclusively to childhood and adolescent cancer research.

In an effort to help raise awareness and funds for the cause, Chivas USA will host their Childhood Cancer Awareness (CCA) Night in the Red-and-White’s match against reigning MLS Cup Champion, Sporting KC on Friday at 7:30 p.m. (PT) at the StubHub Center. As part of the campaign, CCA pin-up paper scarfs will be available for purchase for the minimum donation of $1 and they will be displayed in and around the stadium. All funds will be split 50/50 between local and national COG beneficiaries.

Additionally, Chivas USA and Sporting KC players will be wearing special “Soccer Kicks Cancer” t-shirts during the initial ceremonies and national anthem. Chivas USA Head Coach Wilmer Cabrera, as well as Sporting KC Head Coach Peter Vermes, will also wear yellow Soccer Kicks Cancer scarves throughout the match.

Make sure to visit the Sales and Service tent at top of Section 117, the ChivaKids tent at ChivaTown and the Team LA Store to purchase your paper scarf and help a great cause!

Es septiembre y este mes, la iniciativa comunitaria de la liga MLS W.O.R.K.S estará brindando sensibilización sobre el cáncer infantil a través de su campaña “Soccer Kicks Cancer”. Este año, la MLS ha unido fuerzas con Children’s Oncology Group (COG), la organización más grande del mundo dedicada a la investigación del cáncer infantil y en los adolescentes.

En un esfuerzo por concienciar a la sociedad y por recaudar fondos para la causa, Chivas USA sostendrá una noche de Sensibilización del Cáncer Infantil en el partido de los Rojiblancos ante el vigente Campeón de la Copa MLS, Sporting KC este viernes a las 7:30 p.m. (PT) en el StubHub Center. Como parte de la campaña, se pondrán a la venta las bufandas de CCA por una donación mínima de $1 y serán exhibidas alrededor del estadio. Los fondos recaudados serán divididos 50/50 entre beneficiarios locales y nacionales.

Además, los jugadores de Chivas USA y Sporting KC usarán unas camisas especiales con el mensaje “Soccer Kicks Cancer” durante las ceremonias de apertura y el himno nacional. El Director Técnico de Chivas USA Wilmer Cabrera, al igual que el Director Técnico de Sporting KC Peter Vermes, portará una bufanda amarilla de Soccer Kicks Cancer durante el partido.
