One week into joining Chivas USA, Colombian-born Juan Agudelo notched his first goal with the club in the 1-1 draw with Seattle Sounders on May 26 at The Home Depot Center.

In the 57th minute of the match, former Sounder James Riley took a shot into the box, finding Agudelo who defeated the Seattle goalkeeper and defender to score the first goal of the night. The 19-year-old striker would go on to play 20 matches (16 starts), notching three goals and three assists.

In nine years with New England Revolution, midfielder Shalrie Joseph scored a total of 37 goals in 261 games (254 starts) with the club. Then Joseph was traded on August 1 to Chivas USA, but it didn’t take long for him to begin scoring for the Goats, notching two goals in one game, a special one for the Grenada-born player.

Chivas USA travelled to Boston on August 29 for a mid-week match against the Revolution, Joseph’s first return since being traded earlier that month. Just when all seemed lost for the Goats after going down 3-nil by the 20th minute, Joseph scored.  As if one goal against his former club wasn't enough, Joseph notched his second of the night for the Red-and-White to make  the match 3-2.

In the last minute of the first half, Juan Agudelo made a pass to Joseph who with a left-footed shot from outside the box, put the ball into the back of the net to put the Goats back in the game. It was a real comeback game for the Goats who avoided leaving Gillette Stadium without any points; the match ended in a 3-3 draw after Miller Bolaños scored the third goal in the 47th minute.

Paolo Cardozo joined Chivas USA after the club traded David Junior Lopes to the LA Galaxy in early April. And in his first match against his old club, the Uruguayan-born midfielder let the Galaxy know what they let go, notching his first professional goal in MLS.

Cardozo came into the match in the 45th minute of the second SuperClásico of the season. Seven minutes into the match, Cardozo took a shot from the 18-yard line, striking it past Galaxy goalkeeper Josh Saunders, giving the Goats hope for a comeback after going down 2-nil. Unfortunately, the match ended in a 3-1 win for the Galaxy.

Despite the loss, Cardozo’s goal earned him a nomination for MLS Goal of the Week. Check it out:

The season might be over for Chivas USA, but the team returned to The Home Depot Center this morning for training after two days off.

The Goats kicked off the morning with light warm-up exercises led by coach Jim Liston. The team then proceeded to what would cover the rest of the training: a 5v5 tournament with four groups. The team with black jerseys took first place with 23 points, just one point more than second place grey team. In the final game, the black team defeated the grey squad 2-1. In the end of the tournament, goalkeeper coach Daniel Gonzalez was named MVP of the tournament, with the least amount of goals against.

Chivas will return to training tomorrow morning and will have the weekend off before returning to training once again Monday morning.

In his first return to Red Bull Arena since leaving New York Red Bulls in 2011, Colombian forward Juan Pablo Angel notched an amazing goal against former club to give Chivas USA a 1-0 lead.

In the 47th minute of the match, a corner kick taken by then-Chivas midfielder Blair Gavin found Rauwshan McKenzie, whose header found Juan Pablo Angel, leading to the game-opening goal. Ten minutes later, New York would score the equalizer, ending the match in a 1-1 draw. Angel’s 70th MLS career goal earned him a nomination for Goal of the Week.

Angel was the team’s top goal scorer in 2012, notching four goals in the season. Since joining the club mid-season in 2011, Angel has scored a total of 11 goals, playing in 28 games (18 starts). Angel, who played for  the Red Bulls from 2007-10, is the top goal scorer in the club’s history, scoring 58 goals.

Two matches into 2012, Chivas USA was unable to reach victory or score the first goal of the season. Then the road match at Real Salt Lake came and 2012 MLS SuperDraft pick Casey Townsend made the difference in the game, giving the Goats their first three points and notching the first goal of the season.

In the 72nd minute of the match, defender Ante Jazic made a cross that RSL goalkeeper Nick Rimando attempted to grab the ball but let go, allowing Townsend to score his first professional goal.
