Over 23,000 fans were in attendance, Razov scored the first goal for Chivas USA in the 23rd minute of the match off a pass from Lawson Vaughn. After much speculation, Chivas USA has announced today the acquisition of central defender Danny Califf in a trade with Philadelphia Union. The Modesto, Calif. native returns to his hometown after six years of playing out-of-state.
Pending Chivas USA Coach Robin Fraser’s starting line-up decision, Califf might play against the team he started his professional career and won the 2002 MLS Cup this weekend in the SuperClásico. Califf will also be reuniting with former Galaxy teammate and current Chivas USA forward/captain Alejandro Moreno.
Califf started his youth career in Canyon Hills Soccer Association team Canyon Classics, before going off to play with the University of Maryland. In his first year in Maryland, Califf started all 24 games, and was named to Soccer America’s All-American Freshman Team. As a sophomore, Califf was selected by the LA Galaxy in the 2000 MLS SuperDraft as the sixth overall pick, and helped the team win the 2002 MLS Cup.
Califf struggled with injuries in 2004 which led him to be traded to San Jose in 2005, where he played 20 games and scored two goals with the Earthquakes, earning him his very first MLS Best XI.
Before joining Philadelphia Union, Califf went overseas to play for Aalborg BK of the Danish Superliga where he served as team captain, helping the team earn a bronze medal in the 2006-2007 and later earned the gold in 2007-2008 season before joining FC Midtjylland.
In his 12-year career, Califf has played a total of 188 games (180 starts), notching eight goals and adding five assists in Major League Soccer. Aside from his pro club experience, Califf has been called up 23 times to the United States National Team, including the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa.

Young and talented striker Juan Agudelo joins Chivas USA after two seasons with the New York Red Bulls. Colombian-born Agudelo has made 33 appearances (13 starts), notched six goals and sums two assists in his three years in Major League Soccer. The 19 year-old star will be available for the SuperClásico vs LA Galaxy this Saturday at The Home Depot Center.
Most recently, Agudelo represented the United States in March’s 2012 CONCACAF Olympic Qualifiers along with the U23 squad that included current Chivas USA midfielder Jorge Villafaña. Agudelo earned his first appearance with the US First Team National squad on November 17, 2010 when the Americans faced South Africa in a friendly held in Cape Town where the young striker scored his first goal, and the only one of the match, to give the US a 1-0 victory.

CHIVAS USA HEAD COACH ROBIN FRASER
On the match: I thought we had a very bright start. We scored early in the game and that makes a big difference. Throughout the game, we didn't manage it well enough in terms of our possession, but at the end of the day, we showed great fight. To come away from this stadium, against a very good team, with a draw is a good result. Credit to the players, they worked very hard.
On team's defensive effort: It was a very resolute effort. San Jose is a team that is dangerous in a number of ways. It really was a very stern challenge for us. I thought defensively, we really battled.
On forward Jose Erik Correa's first MLS start: He's a hard worker. He's the type of forward who looks to run in behind defenders. We thought that was going to be important and one of the things that were going to be key for us. His running, certainly early on, proved to be the difference for us.
CHIVAS USA GOALKEEPER DAN KENNEDY
On team's effort: I think if you were to tell us that we were going to come in here and get a point, we would have been happy with that. The team really put in a shift in the second half. Obviously, we were under pressurel; they had a lot of service. For me, I think this is something we can build on.
On road success: It shows our potential. I think we've been a bit unfortunate at home. For me, we come on the road and we know what we're up against, so we fight really hard. We need to have that same fight when we're at home.
On defense neutralizing the Quakes' forwards: We asked a lot of Heath [Pearce] and John [Valencia] in the center of the park, and our outside backs to get pressure out to their servers. In the end, we came here and we got a result. We can move forward with that.
CHIVAS USA FORWARD JOSE ERIK CORREA
On his first start in MLS: Coach Fraser gave me the opportunity to be a starter for this particular match. I had an opportunity to play in the last match, but he decided to put me in as a starter. I think I did what he needed me to do. I have to work a lot to get better. Every day that comes by, we have to work harder.
On team's performance: I felt there was a lot of unity on the pitch. Everybody was just playing hard, running after balls, dribbling hard. We were looking after each other as a team today. It's very important when there's a family atmosphere on the pitch because that makes us a team.
