Let’s go guys! Get that sweep!
Just one more day ‘til show time and who’s the team #1? None other than our All-Star Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. Season Seat Holders will be able to meet and greet Kennedy for the first time at The Home Depot Center since he left to become the hero in this year’s MLS All-Star Game vs English powerhouse Chelsea. If you’re among the lucky Season Seat Holders that will be in attendance for tomorrow’s event, make sure to stop by the field and say hello to Kennedy, the man that has helped the team be among the top best defensive lines in the league with 67 saves so far in the season.
We’re just two days away and if you’ve been a season seat holder with the club for the past two years, then you’ll know that this will be the second photo that you, as a lucky season seat holder, will take on the field and this year, it'll be with the team! Can it get better than that? Come to the event and you’ll find out all the other surprises we have in store for you!
If you haven’t RSVP’d to the event, make sure to get your name on the list by calling Gary Gomez at (310) 630-4581.
Looking back to our 2011 calendar, this year hasn’t been as bad for Coach Robin Fraser. Don’t you want to come back and join him on his third season with the Red-and-White? Coach Fraser has helped lead the team to becoming the best defense in the Western Conference. Wouldn’t you want Chivas USA to be the top in the league? Then Coach Fraser is the answer. Come meet the former U.S. international defender this Saturday for the Season Seat Holder Meet the Team Event. He’ll be waiting to meet you!
After two days off, Chivas USA’s First Team returned to practice ahead of the final SuperClásico of the season against the LA Galaxy next Sunday, August 12 at The Home Depot Center. The highlight of today’s session was that there were no injured players on the bench, other than midfielder Oswaldo Minda. The squad initiated their training with a light warm-up session and continued onto practice one-touch passes. The team was then split into two groups to have mini-scrimmages. But who are we to tell you how it went? Take a sneak peek:
It’s the break of dawn; the sun is just coming up when you check your phone or computer and BAM! Chivas USA trades midfielder Blair Gavin to New England Revolution in exchange for attacking midfielder Shalrie Joseph. You rub your eyes to make sure you read it right. Did General Manager Jose Domene sleep last night? Yeah, we don’t think so either.
But the reality is there. Former Revolution captain Shalrie Joseph is our new Goat. The 34 year-old Grenada born midfielder has been with Major League Soccer since 2003, disputing 261 games (254 starts), notching 37 goals and 34 assists. Aside from his club experience, Joseph has also been key part of his country’s national team, disputing 30 games and scoring three goals.
We welcome Shalrie Joseph to the Red-and-White and bid farewell and good luck to the man with our favorite mustache, Blair Gavin.
By the way, if you have a Twitter account, you can now follow him at @ShalrieJoseph21.
There are four days left to the Meet the Team event… so do you know when the event is? It’s this upcoming Saturday, August 4th! If you haven’t prepared for the big day, head over to the Team LA store in The Home Depot Center to buy your 2012 season jersey, scarf or whatever you want the team to autograph! They will all be here waiting to meet YOU!
Remember this event is for Season Seat Holders ONLY. If you haven’t sent your RSVP, feel free to contact Gary Gomez at (310) 630-4581
Does Dan Kennedy ever stop? Let’s hope he doesn’t. Once again, the Chivas USA Goalkeeper is nominated for MLS Save of the Week! In the Red-and-White’s last match vs Portland Timbers, Kennedy earned his seventh shutout of the season, helping the team climb in the standings and get closer to playoff contention.
In last Saturday’s match against the Timbers, Kennedy made six amazing saves, but the save that earned him a nomination for Save of the Week came in the 80th minute as Kris Boyd took a long-distance shot that Kennedy was able to take out for a corner kick.
But don’t take our word for it; check out the nominees and show Dan Kennedy some love! Vote for him now for MLS Save of the Week by clicking here!
After earning three points at Jeld-Wen Field last Saturday vs Portland Timbers, MLSsoccer.com has placed Chivas USA in the 13th spot of the MLS Power Rankings for Week 21, moving on up one spot from last week’s rankings.. The club also ranks 13th in the overall league standings with a record of 7-8-5 (W-L-T) and 26 points, just three spots from playoff contention. If the Goats earn nine points in the next three games (LA Galaxy, Colorado Rapids, and Seattle Sounders respectfully), the team could be in contention for a berth in the MLS Cup Playoffs.
Aside from the Power Rankings, the Goats are currently the top defense in the Western Conference, and third league-wide with just 21 goals against in 20 games disputed.

It’s been a long two weeks for Chivas USA Goalkeeper Dan Kennedy. After earning his sixth shutout of the season in the 1-0 win over Portland Timbers in a midweek match, Kennedy prepared for the second SuperClásico of the season before heading to Philadelphia for the MLS All-Star Game vs Chelsea. The 30-year old keeper then returned to the West Coast to prepare for the team’s final match vs Portland Timbers last Saturday at Jeld-Wen Field. After Danny Califf’s lone goal in the 68th minute of the match that gave the team the final 1-0 victory, Kennedy earned his seventh shutout of the season, making 67 saves this season and currently holds a 1.05 goals against average.
Take a look at one of his best saves from last Saturday’s game. Candidate for MLS Save of the Week? Let us know!
